About

I'm Unaib Amir, a software and enterprise AI consultant. I've spent more than 14 years building for companies around the world.

Most of that work is enterprise platforms, WordPress, custom applications, cloud infrastructure, and the integration work that connects them. These days a lot of it is helping companies use AI where it earns its cost: internal workflows, AI agents, MCP servers, and the automation that takes manual effort off people's plates.

I work across the full stack. Depending on the project that's Python, TypeScript, or PHP on the back end, React and Next.js on the front, and Laravel, Django, or Node underneath, usually running on AWS and Docker. What I care about is the part after launch: that it stays stable and secure, and can grow as the business does.

The work usually takes one of three shapes. Modernizing a platform that has gotten hard to maintain, fitting AI into a process a company already runs, or building an AI-first product from scratch. Whichever it is, I'm after software that keeps paying for itself long after launch, not a one-off that works on day one and quietly falls apart.

Experience

  1. 2023 - 2026

    Principal Engineer · Akademias

    Remote · Direct

    • Led a multi-tenant WordPress LMS that grew to 127 enterprise tenants and more than 125,000 registered users, all served from one codebase and one Docker image with each tenant isolated on its own database.
    • Authored 35 custom plugins and 20 mu-plugins, including a request-aware plugin loader that swaps the active plugin set per request type to keep WordPress boot overhead down.
    • Built an HRIS sync framework that integrated six external HR systems on a shared Action Scheduler pipeline, and ran a 127-connection Auth0 identity estate with Icelandic eID federation and multi-subdomain SSO.
    • Managed a fleet of more than 30 servers and led the solo migration from DigitalOcean to Hetzner, saving about $5,000 a month and holding 99.97% uptime.

    • Built the foundation of a multi-tenant LearnDash platform on a single WordPress codebase with database-switched isolation, reaching around 20 tenants and 10,000 learners by the end of the phase.
    • Integrated Auth0 single sign-on over OIDC, one connection per tenant, on per-tenant subdomains.
    • Designed the daily Action Scheduler HR-sync pipeline, from file import through departments, titles, users, enrollment, and cleanup.
    • Shipped a front-end LMS-manager dashboard plugin with REST controllers, custom WP-CLI commands, and DataTables reporting.
